Gordon Parks. Printed portrait on silk pajamas, top and bottom. American. Circa 2000
Fashion designers have used pictures on a host of garments, from evening gowns to skirts, t-shirts to, well, pajamas. The well-known photographer, painter, filmmaker and humanitarian Gordon Parks had a friend take his portrait. Apparently he liked the picture so much he employed it as a design feature in this collage, which was screened onto specially-made loungewear. The colorful design motif recalls Andy Warhol’s early pictorial works.
